The First National Roundtable Forum on Chinese Medicine Development Strategies was held successfully.

The First National Roundtable Forum on Chinese Medicine Development Strategies was held successfully at Oakland from 2:00 PM to 5:00PM on September 15th, 2018. It was co-organized by seven US Chinese medicine professional associations including American Association of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture(AACMA) from Northern California, American Traditional Chinese Medicine Society(ATCMS) and United Alliance of New York State Licensed Acupuncturists(NANYSLA) from New York, Florida Acupuncture Association(FAA), Massachusetts Society of Chinese Medicine(MSCM), the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Greater Washington DC Area, and California Acupuncturist United Association(CAUA) from Southern California.

More than thirty representatives from these seven associations gathered together and actively participated in the discussion. The main leaders and some practitioners delivered some heartfelt speeches. The atmosphere was lovely, and the speeches were more desired. Everyone gave abundant constructive comments on the development of the Chinese medicine industry.

The forum was hosted by the vice president of AACMA and the vice president of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies Dr. Hu Jun. She first welcomed warmly everyone from all over the US to exchange ideas and discusse about the big plan.

Sam Huang who is the president of AACMA, the vice president of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies and the vice president of AAPAS, Yong Ming Li who is the president of ATCMS and the president of APPAS, Xu Hui Li who is the president of NANYSLA, Hong Jian He who is the former president of FAA, Qun Hao Zhang who is the president of FAA and the Secretary General of AAPAS, and Yong Ping Chen who is the president of CAUA introduced the history and current situation of their association. In addition, they introduced their effort and achievement in legislature, academic development, continued education, and opposition to dry needling. They proposed the integration of all forces in Chinese medicine and acupuncture and gave useful suggestions on the tasks and goals for the community.

There were also short speeches done in the forum by the following participants: Dr. Ming Jin, Dr. Mei Chang Liu, Dr. Ning Ma, Dr. Daniel Jiao, Dr. Jun Xu, Dr. Rong Sheng Lin, the president of Five Branches University Ron Zaidman, and the vice president of Five Branches University Zhen Ping Zhao. Everyone reviewed their history, affirmed their achievements, shared frankly about their experience and lessons learned. They analyzed the situation and offered suggestions about the long-term sustainability and healthy development of the Chinese medicine industry.

The president of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies and the president of the Chinese Acupuncture Association, Professor Bao Yan Liu, attended the forum and delivered an important speech. He praised the efforts and contributions made by all the associations for Chinese medicine and introduced the current work goals of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies. He hoped to strengthen the exchange and cooperation between the American professionals and the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies and envisioned that the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies will help acupuncture and Chinese medicine to grow to a higher level in the United States.
