Newly Re-edited Six-Part Series Now Available
Acupuncture Fever: The Road to Acupuncture Legalization in California, an English-language documentary initiated, funded, and produced by the American Association of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (AACMA), premiered in 2023 and has since received widespread attention and positive feedback from the acupuncture and Chinese medicine communities and friends around the world.
In 2026, the documentary was re-edited and expanded with newly added historical material, including the original site and remarkable story of one of California’s earliest Chinese herbal stores, dating back to the 1850s. The documentary has now been reorganized into a six-part series, with each episode approximately 10 minutes long. Each episode is available in both English-subtitled and Chinese-subtitled versions, and all six episodes are now available on the AACMA YouTube channel.

Through historical materials, interviews, and firsthand accounts, the six-part series traces the development of Chinese medicine and acupuncture in California—from its early introduction and the struggle for legal recognition to the establishment of professional standards and its gradual movement into mainstream healthcare.
We warmly invite Chinese medicine and acupuncture professionals, faculty and students, and friends around the world who care about the development of Chinese medicine to watch and share this series. Together, we can help preserve and pass on this important chapter in the history of acupuncture in America.
Preserving history helps us build a better future.
