August 6th English Speaker Biography

Mori Jean West, is a senior medical billing consultant and CEO of Acuclaims Inc. She was graduated at CSU Long Beach in 1979 then worked as medical office manager in chiropractic and acupuncture clinic and in charge of billing for 24 years. She founded Acuclaims in 2007 as an Insurance Billing Service specifically for acupuncturists, providing verification, electronic billing and accounts receivable follow up. From 2009 she became a CEU provider for the state of California and in conjunction with Acu-Care Network began teaching beginning and advanced insurance billing seminars. Started from 2012, She has taught for acupuncture associations in California, Florida, Oregon, Connecticut, Maryland, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Virginia and Alaska. She has guest lectured to practice management classes at every major acupuncture school in California, and a few in Florida and Virginia. She has rich experience in CA workers’ compensation and even represented acupuncturist at arbitration court case. She also deals with insurance companies for billing and documentation investigation and post-payment audit.

Lecture Topic: Understanding Documentation—It Can Help Get You Paid

In this class you will understand exactly what elements of treatment MUST be documented in your notes and why. You will understand how to establish the patient’s condition to use as a baseline so that you can objectively show medical improvement. When your documentation supports what you billed AND it shows the patient is GETTING BETTER – Guess what? The insurance carrier HAS to pay you!

Gang Li, M.D. is a board certified, Harvard-trained anesthesiologist and Stanford-trained interventional Pain Medicine specialist. He has completed Anesthesiology residency from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School and fellowship in Multidisciplinary Pain Management at Stanford University School of Medicine. Prior to the specialty training, he graduated from Peking Union Medical College in Beijing, China with an M.D. degree. Dr. Li received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Florida for his study in neuropharmacology of Aging and metabolic disorders.

Dr. Li is currently a physician partner and Education Director of Comprehensive Spine and Sports Center, the largest pain management center in Silicon Valley, which provides comprehensive and multidisciplinary pain management services, with offices in Fremont, Morgan Hill and Campbell, CA. He serves as adjunct clinical faculty at Stanford University Pain Management Center where he teaches Stanford residents and fellows on the cutting-edge pain management knowledge and techniques. He has published numerous articles in many prestigious peer-reviewed international medical journals on the topics ranging from pain management, healthcare risk stratification to molecular mechanisms and pharmacologic intervention for aging, obesity and diabetes.

Dr. Li also serves as Chief Medical Officer of iHealth Frontier, an innovative start-up focusing on improving the healthcare outcomes with healthcare analytics and infrastructure software for ACOs (Medicare and commercial), IPAs and commercial payers, while reducing the overall costs.

Dr. Li is a co-founder and President-Elect of the Society of Chinese American Physician Entrepreneurs (SCAPE), which is one of the largest organizations of American physicians with Chinese origin.

Dr. Li is the president of Chinese American Physician Entrepreneurs Investment and Management LLC, one of the largest Chinese American Physician Investment groups in the United States.

Lecture Topic: Introduction of Contemporary Chronic Pain Management for Acupuncturist.
