Benzheng Fang, Professor
Speaker profile: professor Benzheng Fang is the successor to the Fang’s Acupuncture which was established by Dr. Yunpeng Fang. Dr. Y. Fang immersed in Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion from his father’s generation. He graduated from the Henan Medical University in China in 1936. Afterwards, he served as a surgeon in the army. During the Second World War, due to scarcity of rugs, Dr Y. Fang developed a set of effective methods of acupuncture to relieve the post-surgical pain. In the middle of the last century, Fang accidentally discovered that needling point Chengling (GB18) can treat low back pain, so he conducted a comprehensive and systematic study of the scalp acupuncture. Based on the holographic phenomenon and the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, Dr. Y. Fang developed Fang’s Hand Acupuncture, Fang’s Foot Acupuncture, Fangs’ Body Circular Acupuncture, and he boldly proposed that “the head is the human body’s motion and sensory center for meridians.” And “The limbs are the peripheral movement sensory center”. So far the complete system of Fang’s Acupuncture was established. Professor Benzheng Fang, the successor of the Fang’s acupuncture, has been an acupuncturist since 1965. He established the Hong Kong International Micro Acupuncture Research Institute in 1989 and became the Director of the Xi’an Micro Acupuncture Institute in 1990. In 1991, he was selected as a “Chinese contemporary medical expert “In 1996, he was selected as the “Acupuncture and Moxibustion Tong Jian of China”. He has published more than 10 research papers, among which 3 papers won awards. He also published 5 books including Fang’s Micro Acupuncture, and Time Medicine and Acupuncture Perpetual Calendar.
